Imagine the same scenario, same things happening in a tf, there are times where you have 90 fps and it drops to 60-50 and are times where it fucking drops to 10. It can give you like 10 fps but the major problem is the huge and inconsistent fps drops. Since they are all sparkly and have animations they tend to suck a lot of my fps, and i think limiting the menu fps (fps_max_ui x) or disabling background/menu animations (map_enable_background_maps 0) don't help that much. Generally, i delete the background menu files and persona/new hero/event files currently active in the game menu (i don't think that, let's say, deleting hoodwink background now, will help you get any fps since it's not active in the menu) located in dota/maps/backgrounds (and you can delete dashboard_background_last_match_radiant.vpk too, located in dota/maps/scenes/dashboard_background). There are lots of posts in the sub regarding this and i think you should read them to avoid deleting important files. My fps was getting so low in tfs i though my computer was having a seizureĮdit 2: I generally delete files related to the current event/persona/new hero that (and dashboard_background_last_match_radiant.vpk too, located in dota/maps/scenes/dashboard_backgroundcame) with the current update (since they are the ones active in the menu and i don't think deleting old background menu files will help you get you fps back). I really wish we had an option to remove this type of shit in configurations.Įdit: After BP update i was playing in a match with Pl, venom, undying, underlord, medusa and DP. The only times my fps is good is in-between updates, when we don't have a lot of event page shit and animated backgrounds. I find funny that everytime Valve announces an update like Frostivus/Battlepass i get hyped but then remember that i will have to delete a shitton of files from dota's folder to get my fps slightly back to normal (generally during events i have low fps and after deleting the files i get almost all the fps back but still have a lot of drops). TDLR: The games dying, literally performance is killing my game. These issues ive mentioned are a few in a large abundance. This thread from 4 YEARS AGO sums it up exactly: The more skins loaded on your account the more stutters, less fps etc. Let's also talk about how the size of your steam inventory affects your performance in game. This isnt just me as well, everyone I play dota with agrees and knows this issue. I will play a pub match and i'll have 135+ fps, the next game without a restart the game will literally run at 40fps. Luckily I have a PC capable to handle the bad performance however for people that dont the game is quite literally unplayable. Even having to restart so you can see the range of towers! Whether it is just general performance, or having to restart the game after every match so it doesnt split your frames in half in the next match. Its actually crazy how every-time Valve update dota, performance gets worse and worse and random bugs appear and don't get fixed.
